Veritas - Plane - Low Angle Jack PlaneVERPLALOAJACO1
Veritas - Plane - Low Angle Jack Plane can be used to flatten surfaces, preferably taking a diagonal cut, partly across and partly along the grain, shooting mitres and is excellent for end-grain work.
With its generous side wings, it is ideal for shooting mitres, and the low cutting angle of 37 degrees minimizes fibre tearing.
With a bed angle of 12 degrees, this is a bevel-up plane, like a low-angle block. It features an adjustable mouth with a unique stop-screw, a combined feed and lateral adjustment knob for blade setting, and a generous front knob and rear handle.
Supplied with an O1 blade with a 25 degree bevel or a PMV-11 blade with a 25 degree bevel.
The plane arrived in the post with some minor damage and without question Wood Workers Workshop ordered me a replacement. The replacement arrived quickly and whilst there was no obvious damage this time to the plane body, there was a small chip in one edge of the PMV11 plane iron. I could not muster the energy to request that it be sent back again particularly as the plane and blade have to go back together, so I took it home to my workshop...I don't think I am being too picky to demand perfection from a £240 plane. I do confess to being a little concerned about potential future issues with the plane iron, but time will tell.
I have yet to find the time to put the plane through its paces on the workbench, but I doubt it will disappoint in that department.
