Description

Verum's 4-piece butt chisel set comes with 65mm long sturdy ground bevelled blades. The sustainably-sourced Bubinga turned handles fitted into the tapered polished steel ferrules produce a well-balanced butt chisel at 175mm overall length. Ideal for working in tight or confined spaces where a standard chisel cannot be used. With minimal preparation required before use, these chisels will last a lifetime.

Nice little set of butt chisels.

Nice little set of butt chisels in a fitted wooden box like some other Verum tools I've bought. Needed some work to flatten the backs and hone a bevel edge to personal preference, but not much more than any chisel - almost as little prep as the few Ashley Iles ones I own. The Verums take and hold an edge very well, though I've only used used them for light work so far. Decent quality at an affordable price - what more could you reasonably ask for?

Vermicelli Butt chisels

A good quality set of chisels. Handles fit comfortably in my hand; they will be useful for jobs where longer handles make access difficult. In all, well made, sharpen up easily and hold their edge.

Impressive quality tools at a reasonable cost.

Bought these for finer work, my 'everyday use' chisels are the ubiquitous plastic-handled 5002's which do their job well enough, but these are a joy to use for small fine work. They sit comfortably in the hand despite the small size, are well made, look more expensive, and take & hold a razor edge well - after flattening the back and honing - time and effort well spent. Of course there are 'better' chisels out there, no doubt at many times the price - and equally as far above my skill level ...but, one day! Can highly recommend!

Seem to be a good buy

The chisels seem to be well engineered, they feel good in the hand. I have some projects that need bow-tie inlays in Oak. I have yet to sharpen them, so don’t know how flat the backs are. I’ll get them there with a Tormek T8 and hopeful they’ll keep their edge. Good for there money though.

Butt Chisels

Wanted to try my hand at Kumiko and needed a nice sharp chisel for trimming the sticks. The short butt chisel seemed ideal for the purpose, letting your hand be close to the cutting edge for control, and these are very nice and reasonably priced. Needed sharpening and honing but that was very quick after the backs were flattened. Not tried trimming Kumiko strips yet, but they trim similar strips perfectly
