At Wood Workers Workshop, we take our responsibility seriously when selling age-restricted products such as knives, blades, and honing fluids. UK law prohibits the sale of these items to anyone under the age of 18, and we are committed to promoting safe and responsible tool use.
Why We Verify Your Age
Under the Criminal Justice Act 1988, the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006, and the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016, we are legally required to confirm that all customers purchasing knives, bladed items, or honing fluid are aged 18 or over before their order can be dispatched.
How We Verify Your Age
If your order includes an age-restricted product, our Sales Team will email you to request proof of age before processing and dispatch. We accept the following as valid proof of age:
- UK Driving Licence – must show your name, date of birth, photo, and billing address
- Passport – must show your name, date of birth, and photo plus a recent utility bill showing your shipping address
Please include your order number when you send your documents to sales@woodworkersworkshop.co.uk to avoid delay.
Requirements
- Your shipping address must match your ID
- We cannot accept prepaid credit cards as proof of age
- We cannot deliver age restricted products to school addresses
- If you prefer not to provide proof of age, we will refund the age-restricted item(s) and ship the rest of your order
Data Protection & Retention
Your documents are reviewed securely by our team solely for the purpose of verifying your age.
- We retain a secure record of your verification (including your name, date of birth, address, order number, and date verified) together with a copy of your ID
- This information is held for as long as we are legally required to retain sales records — typically up to six years — in order to demonstrate compliance with age-restriction laws and for audit purposes.
- Your data is stored securely with restricted access and will only be shared where required by law (for example, with Trading Standards).
