Description

The Verum No. 6 Fore Plane has long been a favourite among professional furniture makers — admired for its ability to bridge the gap between the nimble No. 5 1/2 and the longer No. 7 jointer. Its extra length makes it superb for jointing edges and levelling larger surfaces such as tabletops, panels, and workbenches, while still being agile enough for controlled, precise work.

Its longer toe and sole also make the No. 6 an excellent shooting plane for trimming end grain and fitting mitres. A much-loved maker’s plane, it is often chosen for veneer shooting and work where accuracy is paramount.

Designed with Peter Sefton

Each Verum plane is the result of a collaboration between our manufacturer and Wood Workers Workshop’s owner, Peter Sefton — a master craftsman and long-time woodworking educator. His hands-on feedback shaped every element, from blade geometry to handle ergonomics, producing a tool that’s truly made by woodworkers, for woodworkers.

Ergonomics & Comfort

Bespoke Bubinga Handle
Designed by Peter Sefton, the ergonomic rear handle transfers more power into the cut while keeping your hand relaxed and blister-free during extended use.

Balanced Length
Long enough for levelling and jointing, yet more agile than a full-size jointer, the No. 6 offers control and versatility across a wide range of tasks.

Blade Control & Adjustment

Oversized Adjuster Wheel
Makes depth adjustments easy — tweak with a single finger mid-cut without shifting your grip.

Precision Lateral Adjuster
Tight-tolerance bearing and engineered brass tab ensure the blade stays firmly in place, eliminating drift and ensuring accuracy.

Minimal Setup Required
Accurately machined components mean every plane is pre-assembled and ready to deliver clean, precise results straight from the box.

Build Quality & Performance

Superior Bedrock Frog Design
Offers maximum blade support and allows you to adjust the mouth without removing the iron — quicker setup, less risk of damage, and a cleaner finish. The tight tolerance machining provides full contact between the frog and body, eliminating chatter.

3mm Low Profile Cap Iron (Chip Breaker)
Dampens vibration and supports the blade edge, producing consistent, tear-out-free surfaces even in difficult grain.

T10 Carbon Steel Blade
Holds a razor edge and sharpens easily — water-cooled and hardened to RC63 for lasting performance.

Lifetime Warranty
Every Verum plane is built to last a lifetime in the workshop — and our lifetime warranty backs that promise, giving you confidence it will serve for decades to come.

Verum no6.

Great plane. I owned a LN 51/2 and 7. Discovered late in life a no 6.. started with a record and sold both LN. But the record took so much work and I missed the bedrock and quality .. This verum plane ticked all the boxes at a third of the cost.
Had a small problem but wwshop sorted straight away. Love the plane and the service.

Upmarket tool

I honed the iron, did some minimal fettling, and wiped off the oil.The iron was honed on a 16000 grit Shapton stone and the edge was superb.I have several other well known brands of bench plane and this is less than half the price and the difference is very small.

Excellent Service

"The technical support and customer service I’ve received has been truly exceptional - world class and especially nice given it’s a rarity these days."
