NAREX cabinetmaker’s chisels have an improved cross-section from previous designs. The sides are ground thin to minimise friction when cutting which is particularly useful for dovetail work.
The blade is forged from Chrome Manganese (Cr-Mn) steel and heat treated up to 59 HRc (Rockwell Hardness Scale). The Chrome Manganese (Cr-Mn) steel used in Narex chisels is a low-alloy high-carbon steel developed specifically for making edge tools using the isothermal hardening method. This produces very strong chisels with edge taking and holding properties similar to carbon steel tools. Grind at 25 and hone at 30 degrees. Honing angles can be adjusted to suit your needs - a little steeper for greater edge durability or a little shallower for easier cutting.
The ergonomic handle is made from stained hornbeam, with a brass plated ferrule. Hornbeam is a dense wood, perfectly suited to light mallet work.
