Micro Jig’s MATCHFIT Dovetail Router Bit makes the MATCHFIT system faster and easier to use than ever before. 

The MATCHFIT Dovetail Router Bit is designed especially for the MATCHFIT Dovetail Clamps and dovetail hardware.  Although it mills the same 14 degree, 1/2 inch profile as a standard dovetail bit, its unique design automatically rounds over the sharp top shoulders creating incredibly clean dovetail grooves and virtually eliminating the need for sanding.  Experience the difference supreme engineering and attention to detail make.

So good I bought 2!

OK. Well, I broke the first one as I didn't have the router fence clamped in place and tried ploughing through some phenolic. I'll put my hands up that was my mistake and not the product.

Anyway, I bought a second one and had lots of fun making jigs with that in plywood, mdf and phenolic. I recommend using a 1/4" relief in harder materials, and in solid phenolic, I made an 8mm relief, so the cutter had even less work to do.

I used my 1/4" shank Microjig router bits to make the chanels for a table top series of chanels for microjig clamps as a hold down table. My only concern was that I di not have a 1/2" shank router collet they would not be up to the job compared to the standard !/2" shank bits. I had no need to worry. I took two passes with the first parallel sided bit and then a single pass with the 1/4" shank dovetail bit and smooth channels resulted. The table top jig and others using the clamps in the routed chanels are so useful I wonder how I did without them before. John McLean ( no longer saving up for a router with a half inch collet).

Quality bit

I was initially using a generic dovetail bit but it makes a world of difference switching to this one (with nice subtle roundover at the top of the channel). Still need to route a relief channel first for best results…
