Description

JessEm TA Fence is the newest addition to the Router Fence line-up. A uniquely engineered router fence held to the toughest of tolerances ensuring long lasting precision and use. 

Time and again, the same old router fence “L” shape aluminium extrusion is used. The problem that manufacturers run into with this design is the twisting and warping that may occur when extruding a shape that long. This can be overcome with machining the part once it is cut; however, most router table fences on the market today skip this most important step. This is why JessEm’s new TA Fence is incredibly unique and precise. We have extruded three distinct extrusions, which are cut on our cold saw and each machined to the tightest of tolerances, ensuring you have a perfectly square router table fence with no bends or twists. At the top of each fence is an easy to read 36” scale in both imperial and metric measurements. As well, the main fence components are all anodised to give you years of lasting use.

The Sub-fences

The TA Fence sub-fences are extruded from 6000 series aluminium. They are then cut on a cold saw and each sub-fence is machined independently to the highest degree of accuracy. They are then “hard” anodised for that long lasting durability.  Both sub-fences are independently adjustable to handle different size router bits including the large raised panel bits.

Jointing Operations

The TA Fence gives the woodworker an exceptionally simplified way to do your jointing operations. No need to mess around with shimming bars, or plastic shims.  With the TA Fence adjusting your outfeed fence is as simple as loosening two knobs, turning the knurled dial at the back of your fence. Adjustments from 0” to ¼” are easily made. The adjustment module is precisely laser engraved and each revolution of the dial is equal to 1/16” adjustment to your outfeed fence.  Retighten the knobs and you are ready to go, quick and easy.

Adjustment Knobs

All of the adjustment knobs are precision machined with convenient knurls from either 303 Stainless Steel or 6000 series anodised aluminium. The TA Fence hold down knobs, are neatly mounted in anodised aluminium mounts with a stainless steel retainer, allowing for effortless adjustments. As well, the hold-down knobs are fixed into the retainer so the knobs stay fixed even when the fence is removed from the table. The TA Fence adjustment knobs; as well, are machined from stainless steel and mounted to an aluminium anodised mount for quick, no hassle adjustments.

The Guard

JessEm has designed this unique bit guard, not only to adjust the height for varying sized bits, but to also adjust the depth when routing away from your fence. With a simple turn of the knurled stainless steel hold down knob, adjust the depth to cover your bit and retighten the knob.

Fence Tracks

The right and left TA Fence Tracks are extruded from 6000 series aluminium and machined by CNC mill. Each track has a front and back cover so there is no dust collection build-up within the tracks. Each track has its own linear scale.

Vacuum Port

The TA Fence comes with our standard 2-1/2” (Outer Dimension) x 2-1/4” Internal Dimension) PVC 45° angle vacuum port.

JessEm TA Router Fence

Well ..... the packaging was so well presented that it was a shame to tear into it. Things only got better .... like any good Christmas, the kids will always find the box more fun to play with than the toy inside. Hah! But not in this case. The fence is a well-designed and very well-engineered unit, built to send the test of time - and hopefully my incompetence as well. In addition, it is built for ease and accuracy in use. I have fitted mine with the Micro-Adjuster which does all that is promised, and minimises the "fiddling about" when setting up the fence. The outfield fence unit and adjustment mechanism is a thing of beauty and is as robust and easy to set up as the reminder of the fence.

Many thanks to Andy for your valued help prior to my purchase. I fitted the TA to a cast-iron router table top, with the only required fettle being to ease the M5 holes in the TA side frames to M6 to match the holes in the machined casting. Perfect fit, despite the weird hole-centre spacings (95/93/87 or thereabouts) of the mounting holes in the Cast Iron Top [QUERY: does anyone have any idea why those measurements are used - evidently not random as per the perfect match to the TA mountings?]. In conclusion, I am new to the woodworking Dark Arts, and I am looking forward to many great pleasures to be had at this new table and all the accoutrements now fitted thereto. Thank you WWW, and thank you JessEm, too. Maybe I need to move to Canada to enjoy their benefits and still retain a couple of cents for a beer!

Excellent quality

I'll admit to going a bit over the top with this purchase, but I'm tired of buying products which don't live up to expectations. This is my first Jessem purchase and I'm not disappointed. From the packaging to the instructions and then the construction of the fence, the quality is clear. I was concerned when I bought it that I might have to modify my router table slightly for it to fit as the table is 816mm wide and Jessem's 32" equates to just under 813mm, but there was no problem at all.

3rd time good

Have had two other router fences, both of which were good but lacking in different areas. The TA fence answers all those shortcomings especially as it has a precision out feed offset which is what I use the most.

Obviously Jessem isn’t run by accountants - if it was you wouldn’t have the level of technical detail, quality of material and stratospheric level of engineering that is inherent within all their products (I own three now) - let's hope the bean counters never get a foot in the door.

New setup

I’m new to Jessemm kit but impressed with the build quality / engineering. Still getting used to using it, I bought router table, stand , lift and router, ta fence , clean sweep extraction, stock guides, etc. Guys at Woodworkers Workshop really helpful, covid delivery delays notwithstanding.

It's the best!

I bought this to upgrade the Incra Super System Wonder Fence on my LS Positioner. I've had a the Incra a couple of years an while I love the LS Positioner I find the fence to be a big let down. You always need a hex driver handy to make any adjustments, and this usually means removing any subfences or my Clear-Cut stock guides etc. then fiddling through a couple of the 5 holes to loosen each side of the fence, adjust, and retighten. Also, on the Incra the dust collection isn't great, the main fence has none, the Wonder Fence subfence has a gap in the top when adjusted meaning it is less than optimal.

The thing the impresses about the Jessem is the serious CNC engineering and heavyweight aluminium especially compared to the Incra is some aluminium extrusions and T-bolt construction. It's nice how it all fits works compared to the Incra which just seems over-complicated. Adjustments are super easy with the knurled knobs on the back, and I can leave ClearCut guides in the front track while moving the fences. Offset of the rear fence for jointing is also a doddle. I also got the Mire-R-Slide and that is so solid compared to the Incra right angle fixture (and everything is nice and square), I made some dovetails and it was so much easier and nicer to use especially with the track stop so you can't roll too far through the cut.

I made a couple of small brackets that allow the TA fence to be attached to my LS Positioner so I still have all the functionality of the LS for making joinery. But, I can also use it as a simple router table fence too when the full incremental positioning of the LS isn't needed.

I'd say Jessem is my favorite tool brand. Love the stuff!
