Clifton No 4 Smoothing Plane

I ordered from South Korea. I paid for the order on August 8th and received it on August 26th. The shipment took 19 days by sea freight.
Since the order value exceeded the duty-free threshold in Korea, I was expecting to pay import duties and VAT. However, thanks to the FTA between Korea and the UK, tools manufactured in the UK are eligible for duty-free treatment.
Among the online stores selling Clifton products, this store had the lowest product price and shipping cost, and I was also able to get a discount. On top of that, I was exempt from import duties and VAT, so I was able to purchase everything at a very good price.
I purchased a Clifton No. 4 Bench Plane, a scraper, and a Verum marking gauge blade.
Everything arrived safely, but unfortunately, the lever cap on the bench plane was damaged. I contacted the seller by email, and Jim, the person in charge, responded quickly and kindly and took care of the issue without causing me any inconvenience. A replacement is scheduled to be shipped.

Now, regarding the products themselves:
The Clifton Bench Plane had some rather rough areas, and there was a small amount of rust and some scratches on the blade, so I would not say that the overall finish was particularly good.
However, the flatness of the back of the blade and the sole of the plane was very good, to the point that it was ready to use right out of the box. The blade was also reasonably sharp, above average in my opinion.
After applying some oil and sharpening the blade a little more, no significant setup was necessary.
The Clifton scraper and Verum marking gauge blade arrived in excellent condition without any defects.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the purchase thanks to the Korea-friendly ordering system, good pricing, and friendly customer service.

클리프턴 벤치 플레인은 다소 거친 면이 있고, 약간의 녹과 날에 스크래치가 있어서 제품 마감 상태가 좋다고 볼 수는 없었습니다.
그러나 바로 사용 가능할 정도로 뒷날과 대패집 바닥면의 평활도는 매우 좋았구요, 날도 중간 이상의 날카로움은 있었습니다.
기름칠하고 날만 조금 더 예리하게 연마하면 별다른 세팅은 필요 없습니다.
클리프턴 스크래퍼와 베룸 마킹 게이지 블레이드는 하자 없이 좋은 제품을 수령했습니다.

excellent bit of kit, highly recommended, now offer me a discount on a no.6

I have recently been lucky enough to be able to replace my bench planes with Cliftons, well the ones that needed it anyway. Overall the quality and performance of these planes justifies the cost, in my opinion. The feeling, in your hand, and the performance I have been blown away with. The No.4 is the final plane that I have replaced and it will be a dedicated smoother. I have produced the very thin shavings, that are required, and that was before I sharpened it. So far I have not been disappointed at all and it performs perfectly and much better than my refurbished Stanley No.4. I am proud to have found an heirloom tool that is still made in this country by craftsman and I'm sure these wont need replacing in my lifetime.
