I bought this plane having watched the online videos from Woodworkers Workshop & as an upgrade to my inherited 100 year old Stanley Bailey No.4 1/2. I'd been struggling to plane to a fine finish a beech box that I'm making. I'm very impressed with the quality and finish of this Verum plane. I sharpened and polished the secondary bevel on the blade and was immediately impressed with the fine wood shavings this plane produced. As a keen amateur woodworker I was unsure whether to spend so much on a hand plane but having made the purchase I have absolutely no regrets . It's a joy to use and I'd recommend this hand plane to anyone looking invest in quality tools.
Perfect works like a dream
Beautiful smoothing plane. All I have done is honed the iron and polished the sole using 0000 steel wool and metal polish, in fairness it didn't need it but it's something I just do. It now glides over the surface taking the thinnest of shavings. It really is well made and a substantial heavy casting and easily compares with far more expensive equivalents that I own.
Initially I did not see the need for a 4 1/2 since I already had a 4 but having used a friend's I bought a 4 1/2. It is a superb tool, engineered by someone who knows exactly what a quality plane should be and built to an exceptional standard. Everything "feels" right,a comfortable grip,easy adjustments and the additional weight gives a superb finish. Good service, quick despatch. Highly recommend.

Just received my first Verum plane. Quality and accuracy is very good. Sole is perfectly flat and side square. Feels very solid and comfortable in your hand. Had a little touch up to do on edges of casting, blade and chip breaker. Set up and sharpening quite quick. Didn’t have much to do to flatten the back of blade and chip breaker. Overall very impressed and will be adding to my Verum collection.

I received, set up and have used extensively two Verum 4 1/2 planes for a couple of weeks. All went very smoothly - really high quality kit for a relatively low price - certainly compared to the North American alternatives. All in all, amazing value from Wood Workers Workshop - very speedy delivery, great service and strongly recommended.
