A practical overhead guard for serious table saw work

The SHARK S-10 is designed for woodworkers who want effective overhead guarding and dust collection without adding a fixed obstruction to the table saw. Its rail-mounted design keeps the support at the rear of the machine, while the articulated arm allows the guard to be positioned accurately over the blade and moved clear when access is needed.

It is particularly useful for non-through cuts and dado work, while remaining suitable for everyday ripping and crosscutting operations. The guard lifts over the workpiece, follows the cut position and incorporates a nylon roller to keep timber feeding smoothly.

The S-10 is simple to install on a Harvey HW110SE table saw and can also be retrofitted to other machines with a suitable L-shaped rear rail. Depending on the saw, installation may require three holes to be drilled in the rear rail.

Universal rail-mounted design

Rather than fixing the guard in one position, the S-10 mounts directly to the rear rail of the table saw. The complete assembly can be slid sideways by releasing two locking handles, giving access to a router table attachment or the full rip capacity of the saw without removing the guard.

The vertical post position is adjustable, and the rail-mounted system provides 434mm (17-5/64”) of sliding travel. It is designed for table saws with a native ripping capacity between 914mm and 1321mm (36" and 52").

Precise three-axis adjustment

The tri-axis adjustment system allows the guard to be positioned accurately in relation to the blade and workpiece. This makes it easier to maintain the guard in the correct position when changing cutting operations, blade angles or machine setups.

The telescopic upper arm extends from 1,000mm to 1,590mm (39" to 62"), providing 590mm (23-15/64") of adjustment to accommodate different table saw capacities and workshop layouts.

Smooth air-spring lift

The air-spring mechanism counterbalances the guard, allowing it to be raised and lowered smoothly rather than requiring awkward manual repositioning. The guard can lift over the workpiece while remaining straightforward to position for different stock thicknesses.

For machine setup and maintenance, the complete guard can also swing away. Its 100-degree rotation provides a clear working area when the overhead guard is not required.

Integrated dust collection

Dust is collected directly around the blade through an internal channel in the guard. A 100mm (4") diameter hose connects the guard to the workshop dust extractor, helping capture airborne dust at source rather than allowing it to escape around the blade.

Smooth material feeding

The S-10 incorporates a nylon roller at the front of the guard. Its low-resistance action allows timber to pass smoothly beneath the guard while reducing surface drag and helping prevent marking or scratching on more delicate stock.

Flat and dome guards supplied

Two guard configurations are included: a flat guard and a dome guard. This allows the S-10 to accommodate both 90° cuts and bevel cuts without having to compromise the guard position as the blade angle changes.

Durable construction

The main body of the S-10 is constructed from high-strength aluminium alloy, keeping the assembly durable without unnecessary weight. The transparent guard sections are moulded from impact-resistant polymer, while the feed roller uses wear-resistant nylon.

The result is a robust overhead guard intended for regular use in demanding woodworking workshops.
