Description

The set includes a combination square, a protractor a centre head and scribing tool. The combination square features a heavy-duty cast iron stock that is precision ground on all faces and sides, coupled with a fine quality 300mm/12" satin stainless steel blade and spirit level. The protractor allows for 180-degree angle setting in either direction and a centre head for finding centres of circles. This set offers great accuracy with an excellent price to match.

Nice quality tool

As others have said this set is very good and a step change from the cheapo unit I had before. The centre finder is one of those things that you wondered if it was just a gimmick until you get one. Once you use it you realise what a useful tool it is.

A great value set

You get an awful lot for your money with this set.
I've never owned a cast iron combination square before, I have always opted for the cheaper aluminium ones, which gradually get less and less accurate over time as the aluminium wears. I didn't really want to pay Starrett prices so thought this would be a good compromise. I've used the combination square several times already, it's quite heavy compared to what I am used to, but in a good way, it feels good quality. Most importantly it is true and square. Admittedly I haven't used the other parts of the set yet, and to be honest probably won't use those parts often at all, but they too look very good.

Absolutely square

This is the best combination square set I can afford. I've done the double line test and it is absolutely square. The anvil is cast iron and ground to a good standard. The ruler/slider is stainless, well etched, if a bit sharp on the edges. A little bit of chamfering would have fishined it off nicely. The screw-down lock is a bit crunchy compared to a silky-smooth Starrett at many times the price of this one, so I'll live with it.

Comes in a box with a reassuring bit of calibration/checked certificate thingy. It is a true upgrade from cheap joiner-grade combo squares.

Excellent value

Cheap compared to the Starrett alternative (which admittedly i havent tried) but the difference when upgrading to these from a cheap engineers square is pretty dramatic. They are very hefty, everything fits very snugly and just feels accurate. Some of the finishing could be ever so slightly better - edges could use a little more easing etc but thats not really a big deal and when you arent paying 200 quid you can take that on the chin for the accuracy they provide. Came in a nice case too.
