JessEm Dowelling Jig with 6, 8, 10 and 12mm Heads Package

A solid piece of kit and accurate. Sadly let down by the poor grub screw depth stops collars provided. On more than one occasion these have loosened. I replaced them all with split collars which provide more than single point contact. An upgrade I suggest be taken up by Jessem of WW Workshop. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.

Just a shame that such a precise tool comes with no permanent box, but that was a small negative as i used the jig to make one.

Item well engineered to a very high quality. Simple in operation

Purchased this set to make gate frames mainly. Very well made piece of kit. Easy to use straight out of the box. Pity there is no built in clamp. I use a quick hand clamp to hold the jig in position while drilling. This is a must as the jig will wobble a bit if you try and hold it in place with one hand.

Used it already to make a few gate frames and they turned out really well. The 12mm drill bit is blunt already, probably because I'm drilling into freshly pressure treated wood. I've ordered a couple of 12mm Fisch brad point drill bits to see if they are any better.

Very accurate jig and a helluva lot cheaper than a Festool Domino machine.

Great product and build quality, I've only used a couple of times but very impressed with the results.

Basic bit of kit with limited use other jigs offer more functions
Ie no clamping facility. Also no fine adjustment for centring 2 mm increments is too much. Expensive for what you get however really well made top quality just a shame it doesn’t have more functionality

First time user of a jig and used it to build some shelving and a car stand out of 2x3 and 2x4 timber. 12mm dowels should make very strong joints. Intuitive to use and the jig allows for secure clamping to ensure accuracy. Really good, very solid, jig.

Quite pricey but worth it if you are doing more than a few dowels and want to get them right. It cannot do everything for you, so some measurement accuracy and thought is still required but it takes away much of the fiddly stuff likely to lead to mistakes. As another reviewer stated, maybe think of this as an investment - one you may wish you had made 20 years ago to have avoided all the hassle it prevents.

It is sturdy, well made and accurate and looks as though it should last a lifetime.

I purchased this “4 head” version having considered carefully whether to go with a dowelling jig or a Festool Domino. I am very happy with my decision as the Jessem Dowelling Jig does everything I want it to and is simple to use. The build quality is very high like all Jessem products I have purchased. Even the full kit is merely a fraction of the cost of a Domino and there is no mains cable to trail across the workbench. Highly recommended.

Used for over 250 dowels in one bit of furniture and didn't miss a beat. Flush joins, corners and shelves with everything lining up perfectly. Amazing build quality and well worth the money spent.

During Covid I started repairing furniture as opposed to replacing it, and then moving on to building furniture self taught c/o YouTube etc.

Although I started by using pocket screws they are unsightly (imo) and I quite often found the screws moved.

I was looking for a doweling jig that was substantial easy to use, and was metric! I finally came across JessEmm and have found it fantastic. It was more of an investment but really solid and well made, which makes it easy to get accurate doweling joints immediately. My furniture needs far less fettling now with this tool. Very happy!

I was looking for a jig to space the dowels precisely, where I wanted them. Less expensive self-centering jigs have very limited applications that is why I think JessEm Dowelling Jig is worth every penny I spent on it. I am glad they make them for metric dowels.

First project with this jig was a cabinet with close to one hundred dowels in it. Every joint worked out perfectly. Very simple to use and very effective

The jig itself is good quality material, well machined, and accurate. Easy to use, apart from the drill stop, which is pretty poor and makes depth setting unnecessarily tricky and time-consuming. Needs a centreline on the upper surface as the one underneath on the stop plate is literally useless when drilling material less than 45mm thick. Otherwise great bit of kit.

it's a very precise tool with one caveat. You can absolutely do repeated patterns, and the indexing pin is very helpful, but the fact that the center line is off is very annoying. If down the road they can fix the center line being offset on these jigs, and add a centerline on the face too, this will be an awesome product! Until then it's a very well made and useful tool.

I bought this (with the full 8mm jig which I have yet to be invited to review) to replace my 1970s Record dowel jig. That was simple and had changeable inserts for both metric and imperial sized drills as well as guide rails to use on wider stock. It was clever, but in my hands at least, lacked precision. I spent some time watching YouTube videos and reviews of jigs and considered the great expense of a domino machine before settling on Jessem.

I’m delighted with my choice. It is simple, accurate, reproducible and has all the key centres and distances marked. And they pull out all the stops for quick delivery.

This jig takes dowel jointing to a whole new level of accuracy, convenience and efficiency.
Some will consider it expensive but for those who appreciate excellence in design and craftmanship, this jig delivers great value for money.
There is a certain pleasure in holding and using such a fine quality tool and then seeing the excellent results of one's jointing work.
For a diy enthusiast, this professional tool will likely last a lifetime. The only improvement I would suggest, is that supplied single grub screw type drill depth stop should be replaced with a split ring clamp type depth stop that grips the drill bit firmly around its full circumference and does not wobble.

Does what it says it does and as long as you measure twice and be consistent. its super accurate

Needed a 6mm head to go along with my 8mm one. Excellent quality and arrived within a few days.

I've been using the JessEm doweling jig for several years. It's the best joining tool I've used. This last purchase was to complete my set of dowel sizes.

Very well made. The quality of the machining, weight and finish is reflected in the cost. Will take a bit of practice but so far the end results have been great. Need to order the larger size jig accessories for 10 and 14mm holes as these aren’t supplied with the basic kit sadly.

I had the 8mm version already, which I have used for several years, and was very impressed. I've started making garden furniture, using 2"x4" and 6"x2" timbers, so really needed the heavier 10mm dowels for strength. The kit comes with a placement pin, drill bit with depth stop and the appropriate hex key to replace the head. (Note that the hex key is Imperial, by the way) Works to the same high standard as the 8mm. Well recommended!

This purchase completes my Jessem doweling jig kit & I now have a full set. The Jessem doweling jig is simply awesome! Easy to use and 100% accurate joints every time. Great service as usual fro the Woodworkers Workshop.
