Keep router bits clean and working efficiently

Pitch, resin and other deposits build up on router bits with regular use and can affect both cutting performance and ease of maintenance. This Rockler kit brings the main cleaning and servicing tasks together in one compact system, giving you a controlled way to soak, brush, hold and hone bits without handling the cutters unnecessarily.

The reservoir holds up to 310 ml (10.5 oz) of cleaning fluid, while five stepped holders in the lid accept 1/4", 8mm and 1/2" shanks. With the lid fitted, the bits are suspended upside down in the solution so the cutters remain separated rather than knocking against one another, and the translucent reservoir lets you check progress while they soak.

Safer handling for cleaning, bearings and honing

The supplied Bit Grip uses interchangeable 1/4", 8mm and 1/2" collets to hold router bits securely while you remove bearings, clean cutters or touch up an edge. It can be held in the hand, secured in a vice or clipped onto the base, giving you a steadier working position for detailed maintenance.

A folding brass wire brush helps loosen stubborn pitch, while the double-sided diamond hone provides 300 grit on one face and 600 grit on the other for light cutter maintenance. The hone rotates in its handle so both halves of the abrasive surface can be used, and both the hone and brush store neatly underneath the base when the job is finished.

Small parts and tools kept together

One side of the lid forms a shallow tray with rounded corners, making it useful for keeping bearings, screws and other small parts together during servicing. Three hex keys - 5/64", 3/32" and 1/8" - are also included and store in dedicated slots on the Bit Grip, so the main tools needed for routine router-bit maintenance stay with the kit. Do not leave cleaning fluid in the reservoir for more than three hours, and drain the reservoir before using the hanging hole for storage.
