Get Better Results From Your Bandsaw

A bandsaw is only as accurate and reliable as its setup. Blade choice, tension, tracking, guides, table and fence setup all influence how well the machine cuts and how confidently you can use it.

In this course, Peter Sefton takes you through the practical process of setting up and maintaining a bandsaw correctly, explaining not just what to adjust, but why each adjustment matters. The aim is to help you achieve more accurate, consistent results and understand how to keep your machine performing at its best.

Set Up Your Bandsaw Correctly

Peter explains how to choose the appropriate blade for different cutting tasks before taking you through the key stages of fitting, tensioning, tracking and setting the machine correctly.

You'll also learn how the blade, guides, table and fence work together and how correct adjustment can improve the accuracy and reliability of your bandsaw. The course covers commissioning, blade management and aftermarket fences, giving you a practical understanding of how to get the best from your machine.

Band saw basics for a basic guy.

I got this download on bandsaw setup and all for both myself and my son. My son took woodshop classes in school up to about 17 yrs. He said the information in the video would not presented in his class. He is thoroughly impressed as am I. I have just bought a small older used bandsaw that I want to use in our shop and the information I learnt from the video will help me in getting saw blades, right size / right use. I am looking up how to ensure all the guides and all are properly set for the tool I got, but I did learn from the video setup and this has been valuable to me in getting the saw up and running safely. I will be getting the other videos in time.

Good but basic.

Very good and detailed basic bandsaw instruction, but a little too basic for a big expensive machine like the Felder FB 510. I bought the video because it is exactly the machine I have, including the ceramic guide blocks. I was hoping for more guidance on adjusting them, showing in detail how to adjust the roller guides wasn't helpful. I would liked to have seen more on the differences between flat tires, which this machine has, and crowned tires. Where to place carbide blades on the wheel. Adjusting for drift, it isn't always wear on the blade.

Satisfactory

Attention to the client was very kind, quick, and professional. I am a European business and needed a VAT exempt purchase - no problem with that.
The video is very well shot and it's evident that P. Sefton has put great effort into gathering all the information which is stated in a clear and effective way.
You won't be disappointed.

Excellent teaching

I thought my bandsaw was broken before watching this training. With the excellent teaching and careful explanations I now have a fully working bandsaw!

Really recommend this training a lot so much information in such little time.

Great intro and insight into a versatile machine

I liked it, steady pace that covered the basics; but also gave some insight into the nuances of the machine. Will purchase the next episode.

Great Video

Very informative! I realised that I had not set my bandsaw up correctly (position of supporting bearings). Having watched the video and fitting a new blade correctly, I was rewarded with a nice clean cut!

Fantastic video for less than the price of a spare bandsaw blade, worth every penny

Even though I would have considered myself an exeperienced user, this video covered many new aspects I had not thought about. I particularly found the section on blade selection really useful and this will be a big help in selecting the optimum blade for my projects. Finding it harder and harder to resist signing up for one of Peter’s courses. Keep these excellent videos coming!

Comprehensive guide, invaluable for beginners and experienced users

Although not formally trained as a machinist, I've been around bandsaws for many years - ranging from a particularly 'basic' machine in the 1960s to the big industrial-rated one I now use for timber preparation - and my life would have been much easier and more enjoyable if this video had been available when I started. As it was, it still proved very well worth the investment. Having viewed it from start to finish, I devoted some time to both my bandsaws - I have a little benchtop one in my hand-tool shop for lighter work - and both of them are positively singing as a result. Peter covers everything necessary for initially setting up a bandsaw - including choosing, changing and storing blades, setting tracking, guides and fences, and many more tips along the way. Apart from actually having my machines really on song, I also now have the reassurance of actually knowing that they're right, rather than the nagging doubt of 'What is it that I should know and don't?'! A particularly welcome added bonus was a little set of 'extras' covering a range of topics from dust extraction to rust prevention.
It should be considered essential viewing for anyone new to bandsaws - and no bad idea for more experienced users.

Great instructional bandsaw set up DVD

Having just taken the plunge and bought my first bandsaw I decided to invest upfront on this DVD on bandsaw set-up and am extremly pleased I did. It's opened my eyes to what it takes to make the machine "sing". If you want to get the most from your bandsaw then buy this DVD!
