Well built, accurate and a pleasure to use.

Although this is a large marking gauge, it's easy to use for fine work. The wide face reduces the chance of deviation and being able to dial in an exact measurement is great.

If you just want to purchase one marking gauge and repeatable measurements are important to your work do not hesitate, this is an excellent product. If, like me, you like to see how things work be very careful not to allow the 2 compression springs to fly across your workshop (they are small and very difficult to find!).

This is heavy robust and large enough to be accurately gripped with a clench fist for real control if you need to. The guide bearing surface that rides against the wood has a large surface area so it's really easy to hold tight to the wood and keep a straight line and prevent any tendency for the blade to follow the grain. The 10mm detents coupled with the micrometer type fine adjustment is spot on, honestly my marking accuracy and enthusiasm to be accurate improved 100% when this dropped through my letterbox.

As soon as you clap eyes on it you can see that there are no manufacturing or material compromises, like Jessems other products the finish and materials are drop dead gorgeous.

Do you need to cut a short 3 cm wide strip on the right side of your Festool FS ? Advance the arm 3 notches. Score a lign on your wood. Rotate the ring to advance 2.2 mm more. Score a second ligne. Align your rail on the second lign and cut. Fast, accurate, foolprouf and no tearout. Farewell Veritas.

This is a weighty and beautifully made gauge, that is a pleasure to use. Solid and and well engineered it is easy to accurately set measurements and mark your work. Love it

I've had my eye on this for a some time and glad I took the plunge. I think the reason that I put off buying it for so long was that I was not completely sure that you could simply dial in the absolute measurement - you can. It is beautifully made and when you compare what you get with other marking gauges (I have a micro adjustable Veritas) it represent good value for money - I really think that this is one of those high quality items that are worth the price. It is simple to dial in a measurement to an accuracy of 0.1mm and then apply this to the workpiece. It's bigger and more robust than I imagined and that's good. I find myself using it for marking out lines where I would normally use an Incra rule. Really happy with this.

Extremely well made and does what it says on the tin, a craftsman's tool for precise marking.
However, to achieve that degree of accuracy the marking disc has to be ultra thin which means that the line it cuts in the wood is equally fine to my somewhat aged eyes. So it is by no means a substitute for whatever you are using for this purpose for general work. i.e. you can't even see the line on sawn timber.

So its back to my adjustable square and a pencil most of the time.

Verdict: Craftsman's tool for craftsmen or nice showy bit of kit to hang on toolboard for people like me!
