INCRA I-Box Jig for Box Joints

Regular price £249.95

Description

The INCRA I-Box is the most advanced tool ever produced for creating a stunning variety of box joints & finger joints. Its revolutionary design allows faster setup, greater versatility, and improved user safety compared to traditional jigs. At the same time, it's easy to use and the included link to a 1-hour instructional video covers everything from basic setup to advanced decorative joinery.

The advantages continue far beyond the basics: I-Box-exclusive joints like the Centre Keyed Box Joint can be used to produce symmetric patterns rather than ending your joint with a partial pin as often required with other traditional box joint jigs. The Splined Box Joint is yet another INCRA-only decorative joint that's guaranteed to add wow-factor to your projects, and the I-Box can even be used to produce an unlimited variety of classic dentil mouldings.

Nothing says 'Craftsmanship' like adding solid wood hinges to your projects, and the I-Box can be used in conjunction with the INCRA HingeCrafter to produce wooden hinges in four different barrel diameters and in lengths up to 10". Works with the metric HingeCrafter, too. If you've been looking to improve your shop's joinery capabilities with a fast, versatile, and easy to use method for producing box joints of all descriptions, the INCRA I-Box is what you've been waiting for.

Features

  • Use it on your table saw or router table to cut great looking box joints with a stacking-type dado blade, dedicated box joint blade set, or straight router bits
  • Reversible design works on either side of the cutter
  • Exclusive dual-pitch lead screw mechanism for fast micro-adjusting and a broad 1/8" - 3/4" range of pin widths cut into lumber from 1/4" to 1" thick
  • Exclusive INCRA GlideLOCK miter bar fits standard 3/4" x 3/8" miter slots with a 0.740" - 0.762" adjustment range
  • FREE link to 1-hour instructional video covers basic setups through advanced decorative joinery
  • Works alongside the INCRA HingeCrafter to produce solid wood hinges
  • Front and rear blade guards; front guard also stabilises boards vertically and is adjustable for 1/4" to 1" lumber thicknesses for box joints or even thicker for other applications
  • The wide fence allows clamping lumber securely into position while cutting much better than hand-held boards, especially when joining small or large lumber (hand screw clamp not included)
  • Reversible & reusable MDF sub fence dramatically reduces or eliminates tearout
  • Exclusive INCRA GlideLOCK miter bar fits standard 3/4" x 3/8" miter slots with a 0.740" - 0.762" width adjustment range or is available in a version for Shopsmith machines (use the selector above to choose). Miter bar position adjustable up to 7-1/2" away from saw blades (edge of blade to centre of miter slot) or up to 7-3/4" from routers (centre of collet to centre of miter slot).

Cracking jig - been after one for ages and lives right up to expectations. Many options are available in this field, but the unique compensating screw mechanism is a work of beauty.

Just one modification for perfection

I was concerned that only two screw heads in the adjustment slot keep the jig tight against the mitre bar right angle bracket. I drilled & fitted a taper pin to the bracket to hold it entirely solid after checking very carefully & then made a similar bracket and fitted that one tight against the front edge. It is entirely out of the way under the plate that the work piece sits on.
This is a very nice jig and I am delighted with it.

INCRA IBox

My review covers two aspects. The supplier then the IBox.
I hesitated to purchase the INCRA IBox due to some bad reviews. Eventually, I went ahead and have no regrets. However, I was disappointed when I began to assemble the jig. Two of the holes in the miter bar, that are used to attach the jig to hadn't been tapped & therefore threaded. I phoned Wood Workers Workshop immediately. By mid-morning the next day a replacement arrived with pre-post-paid packaging to return the faulty miter bar. The only reason that persuaded me to go ahead with the purchase was this company's reputation for customer care. Yes, I was disappointed, but jig was manufactured and packaged by INCRA in the US, so 5 satrs to Wood Workers Workshop.
I wrote to INCRA as I feel it's inportant manufacturers get this feedback - Oh dear, I received a reply which indicated that they didn't even read my email. I told them the problem had been resolved, but they said they would contact the supplier about the faulty micro-adjust knob!
INCRA need to read these reviews and get a grip of their quality control checks when they bost their jigs are the best on the market.

Works straight out of the ….iBox!

I had been mulling over getting this jig, trying to justify it to myself over the cost of a locking mitre bit. It was really simple to put together, and my first “test” piece was faultless in 10mm oak. I will be making a lot more boxes using the iBox. The end results are outstanding!

Incra Box joint jig

Received the jig in good time and in good order , well packaged .
On inspection there was 1 small machine screw missing, frustrating because I don' have a screw of the same size.
The jig itself looks very well made and finished.
When I went calibrate the tool problems arose
The red adjustment nob is very hard to turn and dose not move the pins or open them or advance them , so I went to the instruction video again, and its now obvious I have a faulty unit.
Returning the item is a non runner, I purchased it on line from another country. So its on the top shelf in the workshop, waiting to be cannibalized.
A very regretful purchase.

Incra ibox

Excellent design but mitre bar spacer adjustment screws very very stiff and hex socket stripped so had to use dremmel to cut slot in screw
Very good on bench saw for 3mm pins but router table use not so easy needing care due to break out on wider joints and collett extender to get depth of cut
Longer rear mitre bar on bench saw would be benefit to avoid jig lifting when drawing back
I fitted rear blade guard box using mdf to protect hands and stop lifting when pulling back from blade
Altogether neat idea and microscopic adjustment of joints so easy with double screw mechanism
Shame i have not got dado saw though !!

Not as easy as DVD

On receipt eager to used. I watched DVD and read manual. Then set up as per. On cutting my first finger joint it failed to fit. After 2 days of trying I contacted INCRA direct. They responded with some simple hacks which I feel should be in the supplied manual and DVD. Nice piece of kit information lacking.

This makes very accurate box joints, once you watch the dvd and start making then its very intuitive. I am very happy.

Still in the box!!

My ibox is still in its box. I ordered it as soon as it became available, just in case it went out of stock again. Looking forward to my Xmas break when I get to play with this present to myself!

Incra I-Box Jig

Arrived safely, from transportation, in a timely manner.
I have opened the package to check it’s contents, which all look fine.
I have not used the jig to make anything yet but am happy with my purchase at this point.
It is also worth mentioning that “Woodworkers” support has been good during my last few purchases

Incra IBox

As well thought out as I have come to expect from Incra. Great for everything from strong corners to striking effects with contrasting wood and variation in finger size. I have already produced some heavy duty storage drawers, serving trays, and a keepsake box in 10 days since setting up..

Micra Ibox

After some time learning the procedure of set up and a bit of fettering to the mitre bar, I managed to produce excellent and consistent box joints. Care has to be taken to the set up and it really has to be precise, after that it is plain sailing to produce good box joints. Looking to purchase the hinge jig next to make wooden hinges for my boxes

Incra Jig Delivery

My order was processed and delivered very quickly. The service was excellent. In addition, I searched on numerous sites for this jig and the only place I could have bought it, was in the US. Wood Workers Workshop saved me some money, and hassle that I would have had to go through if I imported the jig; They also have a few other Incra tools that I will purchase in the future.
I could not wait to try the jig on my router table, but unfortunately, my guide slots for the guide were not of standard size. So I will have to wait until I have made a new router top.
The jig comes with an instructional CD, which everyone should watch, but also a mini illustrated manual as a reminder for when you are in your workshop.

I Box delivered promptly and well packaged. Not had chance to unpack and set up (typical of these review requests - come in too soon after delivery).

Incra I-Box

A good sturdy product. Easy to put together with adequate instructions. I would suggest that the locating fingers need to be slightly taller, as I feel this would give the workpiece greater stability during the cutting process.

I-Box

I haven't had much time to properly figure out how to use it. I spent a few hours trying to understand the instructions for use on a router table and also kept watching the YouTube video but it was very difficult to follow the instructions because the presenter spoke so fast and it was a pain trying to rewind the vid to the right place to watch again. When I did a test cut on some scrap wood the box joints did not fit. Now I know that I can adjust the jig and get it to work, but I haven't had time to mess about with it . I wish the instructions were better.
