FastCap Zero Clearance Tape

Great idea for avoid tear out. I made the mistake of positioning the strip so I could still reach the screw allowing me to remove the throat plate. That resulted in an uneven strain when raising the blade. Also made it difficult to get the riving knife to break through. Once overcoming it works amazing ly well. Great product thank you!

Saw this item on demo video to help get a more accurate cutting line. Just what I needed

This is really good tape rigid enough to work very well indeed yet flexible enough to adjust to any contours it may need to form over ….
So far I’m impressed with the way it performs and I’d recommend it to any mitre saw owner …

Good edition to my Mitre saw & Table saw

Simple and easy to use.

Such a simple way to add zero clearance to my mitre saw and without raising the saw bed, which is what the old plywood jig did. My insert plate is slightly lower than the rest of the saw table so the tape sits only a fraction of a mm raised. Doesn’t affect angle of cut. Clever and useful product..

It works, but had to readjust my mitre saw height in the bench I’ve made for it to sit in.

And use a strip away from the blade to make sure I have a level surface for cutting smaller pieces.

So mixed.

The insert plate on my table saw is rubbish. This tape is a very useful way to get a zero clearance line to work off.

I confess that I bought this more as a result of wondering how I might use it, rather than knowing how I might use it. My Axminster table saw is now about 10 years old and, yes, it’s not without its negatives. One of these is a huge aluminium insert around the blade which requires 6 Allen bolts to be removed to get it out. I’ve made lots of various zero clearance inserts (one each for the blades with differing kerfs) out of plywood which are not easy to get right. I wondered if this Fastcap tape could provide some alternatives. The problem for me is that, if I put the tape over the original aluminium insert, then it raises the surface by (estimate) just under a millimetre which means that the timber doesn’t cut at 90 degrees, or whatever, without moving the blade and carefully measuring the new angle (which might be the required 45, 22.5, 90 or whatever plus the degree to which the tape makes the surface not zero degrees. I hope that reads rather more clearly than I fear

Carbide tips on the blade of my mitre saw took chips out of the zero clearance tape. I was expecting a pristine zero clearance cut in the tape so slightly disappointed. I'm not an experienced woodworker so maybe I did something wrong?

Quick and easy process

Simple plastic adhesive strips. My chop saw has seen a few years and the recess slot it drops into had become worn and wider than the blade. These semi pliable strips simply stick over this and when cut with the blade produce a nice clean fresh slot helping to judge more accurate cuts easily and also stops a little of the rip out at base of wood. Don’t know how long the last yet but there’s plenty spare in the pack

I used this on an Evolution R210SMS+ which has a clip-in insert, rather than a screw-in one. That makes it harder to make a replacement zero clearance insert. The Fastcap tape fixed that so easily and works great. Was trimmed and fitted in under 5 minutes.

Do take care how you cut the tape with the saw blade. Plunging into the tape and sliding the saw through it with no wood on the tape ruined that piece. The plunge worked OK, but sliding the blade through the uncovered tape shattered the edges of the cut and ruined it. Peeled off and put on strip 2 (you get 5). Covered it with a piece of scrap and plunged 3 times (front, back, middle). Perfect - just wish the instructions made that clearer. Finish off cutting through a scrap strip of wood screwed to the back fence and now very happy with the tearout reduction.

Surprisingly good and does what it says, works very well on my Bosch glide saw. Quicker than making zero clearance inserts.

Works great on KS-60

Easy to fit, really useful, and much simpler than having to make a zero clearance insert. Was getting fed up of tear out even with highest quality blade, and also to be honest can never remember which side of the kerf the laser indicates. Used this on Makita sliding mitre saw and makes life so much easier. Aiming to use another on DeWalt table saw if I can get the cutout right. Easy to order and delivered on time. All good, really pleased.

Can't rate this highly enough, I have a de-walt chop saw with a laser guide I have never been able to get on with, this simple bit of tape knocks it into a cocked hat.
One thing that is not immediately obvious until you are using it is that the tape indicates the exact width of the blade and therefor identifies **both** sides of the cut.. Therefore if the bit you want to keep is on the right hand side of the timber you have marked you don't have to set it up awkwardly from the right by bringing the stationary blade down to the work with the "wrong" hand.,You can do the whole thing without touching the machine and then cut normally holding the piece with your left hand. .

Easiest up grade to miter and tables saws about.
To install , stick on and trim around, adjust throat plate to level , punge a cut and thats it.
Massively reduces tear out on underside of workpiece and stops thin rips getting trapped in blade trench . Added accuracy for rough judging of cuts .

All in for the money, absolutely no regrets.
