Woodpeckers - Coping SledWP_COPSLED
Woodpeckers - Coping Sled is the router table accessory you need to make rail and style doors, tenons, lap joints and most other end grain cuts, and is best way to ensure your board is perpendicular to the router fence and guides smoothly across the router bit.
The Woodpeckers Coping Sled uses two techniques to secure the your work piece. First it traps the board between the adjustable top plate and the fence. The slotted top plate is easily adjusted for material up to 5½" wide. Trapping the board this way prevents the router bit from spinning the board. Controlling this rotational force is the most important part of accurately shaping end grain.
Second, two clamps hold the piece down to prevent lifting. However very little clamping pressure is needed because the board is trapped as explained earlier. The two clamp knobs are part of the clamp beam which is adjustable so it can easily be set to the center of the board.
Two handles are used to lock the clamp beam in place. Their location is always directly above the clamping force and well away from the router bit.
Another important feature is the clear guide. The primary purpose of the guide is to allow the sled to track along the fence rather than the miter slot.
This approach is faster and easier to setup and eliminates the need to align your router fence perfectly parallel to the miter slot. It also eliminates the need for having a miter slot in your router table.
Includes step-by-step, fully illustrated instructions.

I am still in the early days of routing so for example I prefer to use cutters with bearings and mounted in a table.
This sled carries over the same degree of ease of working and sense of control I am used to with bearing cutters making me very confident in my safety and the quality of the work.
I will want to leave the set up ready for the next drawer I am making!
Good finishing. Extremely practical. Very well thought design. Very nice good product. I used it with a Triton Router Table Module with a a 1400W Dual Mode Precision Router in their TWX7 Workcentre and works very nice and precise.
Well thought through and well made but of course expensive. Just one significant irritation; this is no one's fault but the result of mixing different manufacturers. The clear plastic guide is the key to accurate use so it must be firmly and accurately clamped as it is this moving against the router fence that controls the angle and spacing of the work. I use a Jessem router table and fence and the plastic guide is at exactly the same height above the table as the track on the fence. the slots on the guide are not long enough for the guide to run in the track so I will need to use a false fence on the router table unless Woodpecker can be persuaded to make a larger size guide - I suppose it would be quite easy to get a bigger bit of perspex and make the slots.....
