Very good

Nice clear readout relatively easy to install. I did have to make my own brackets as the ones supplied didn't suit my needs. Fitted to a PT107 planer. Very pleased consistent readings

An excellent DRO

Small, easy to install, clear display. Very well thought out package. Only issue is rather low measurement resolution, okay for wood, impractical for metal.

Not great

Having installed this DRO on my 1979 planer thicknesser I was looking forward to easily repeatable results, and knowing what the setting was at any given time. In practice, however, I'm frustrated. The instructions supplied are laughable in their brevity and do not describe how to set the readout to a given dimension. But worse, the display seems to randomly change its reading, so you're never sure whether it's showing the correct setting. Is this a fault or have I not set it up correctly? As a result, I end up having to run a test piece through to check the setting and then readjust accordingly, sometimes in the middle of a batch of thicknessing - aaagh!
This is not an expensive instrument, but unless I can sort out the problems it is not good value for money. I'd prefer to pay more for a properly reliable product with proper instructions!

Easy to fix digital linear gauge is accurate and easy to read, and very good value

I fitted this digital readout to my old Kity 10" woodworking planer/thicknesser. It was easy to fit and after calibration using the preset to define the actual zero. I now have a very accurate reading of the planer's thickness setting - this is a huge improvement as and has already saved me a lot of time and given me repeatable accuracy which is easily good enough for precision woodworking. And all of this for a very modest price.

I Gage EZ view

After much research I bit the bullet and purchased two of these units.
I found them to be accurate and of descent build quality, accurate repeatable precision can be easily achieved.
Suitable for many applications. I am happy to recommend this product.

DRO digital READOUT3

Having installed the device and used it a few times I have to say that I prefer the orange digital readouts that fit on the winding handle shaft. I have found with the DRO readout that the indicated numbers can be a bit vague and don't always agree with a vernier gauge.

God quality for the price

For its price it works great, it isn't a full blown DRO for 1000+ GBP but for its intended purpose its really accurate. Large number/display thats easily read from a distance. Mounting arm is included aswell as options for mounting several DROs on top of eachother. Magnets on the backside to chuck it up on some metall.

Only negative is that the numbers lag a tiny but when doing large changes, nothing huge considering what its used for.

Fits great with Jessem router lift, no modification needed to either DRO or Router lift.

Installation on Mafell AD160

I have fitted this unit to my Mafell AD160 planer/thicknesser on the thicknesser part. I have included a link to a Dropbox folder containing photos of the installation.
The DRO unit looks well made and functions well. The ease of adjustment depends on the smoothness of the mechanism driving it, mine has a chain drive and can be a bit sticky in places.
The measuring sensor and aluminium track can be used in two ways, the sensor moves and the track is stationary, or the track moves and the sensor is stationary. If the sensor moves, as in my case, you have to consider strain on its cable and build in some flexibility. The aluminium track can be cut to length to fit your machine.
The Preset function is very useful as it allows a fixed measurement to be added to the zero setting. On the thicknesser the moving table is prevented from hitting the blades by a fixed stop. If you set zero at the fixed stop the distance from the stop to the blades is not included. This distance can be measured and added using the Preset function.
The other useful function is setting an Increment Zero (INC). This removes the need for calculations when you want to move the machine a small amount from where you are on the scale. The true position is displayed when the increment zero is removed
The instructions supplied are a typical Chinese/English effort and are not very easy to follow when new to this sort of equipment.
