Clifton Round Burnisher for Cabinet Scrapers

Clifton - Burnisher for Cabinet Scrapers is a round, very high quality Rosewood and High Speed Steel (HSS) burnisher - an essential tool for burnishing the edge of Cabinet Scrapers.

The attractive turned brass ferrule protects the finger and knuckles whilst the 11mm hardened and finely polished blade produces a very clean consistent rolled hook edge. The High Speed Steel blade is finely ground to a very smooth finish and is hardened and tempered to 62 Rockwell C. The handle is sanded and made from sealed rosewood and the ferrule is polished brass. The high quality and finish on this burnisher will turn and harden your cabinet scrapers hook not scratch it or leave a rasped edge.

Use the Burnisher level on the side of the cabinet scraper to lay down any old turned hook. You are drawing out the steel, this is know as tacking the chilled edge. Then use the burnisher to turn a fresh hook on the edge of the scraper by holding the burnisher between 75-85 degrees from the scrapers flat side. Use a drop of oil or spittle to lubricate the burnisher to prevent galling the edge.

With a Clifton Cabinet Scraper you will be able to draw out the edge and re-turn the hook several times before requiring to re-file a fresh steel edge on the cabinet scraper or improve it's squareness on a sharpening abrasive.
