The Harvey Compass RF-36 Router Table Fence (Metric) can be purchased individually to make your own set up or as part of the Harvey Compass Router Table Package.
The RF-36 Router Table Fence is built with a special "Dual Fine-Tuning" mechanism. This allows for fine adjustments of both the fence in-line position and outfeed fence offset position. With very high accuracy and easy to use, these design features increase the ability to tune the router table to suit your project.
In addition, the RF-36 Router Table Fence is equipped with two flip stops for cutting length control. The dust port is aerodynamically optimised ensuring the best dust collection efficiency.
Setting The Fence Position
The main fence is designed with a zero clearance fine-tuning mechanism. It synchronises perfectly with the Harvey Compass RT-800 Cast Iron Router Table Top but can be used with any table which has appropriate sized T-slots.
Slide the fence to the approximate desired position along the T-slot guides, engage the micro adjuster lock, then rotate the adjuster to move the entire fence forwards or backwards. One full rotation of the adjuster gives 1mm of movement. The marked increments on the scale allow adjustments as fine as 0.02mm. When set, just lock the fence using the two large aluminium locking handles.
The structure allowing such fine adjustments consists of double brass nuts with a strong spring ensuring zero clearance of the fine-tuning mechanism.
Lateral play in the T-slot guides has been eliminated by adding two set screws on the guide bar. Two ball bearings on each end of the guide bar ensure the smoothness while sliding the whole fence to incredible levels of precision.
Outfeed Fence Offset
The offset of the outfeed fence face can also be adjusted with a fine-tuning mechanism. The perfectly parallel adjustment of the outfeed fence half is achieved by the zero clearance dovetail mechanism. Just like the mechanism on the main fence, the increment of a full turn of the micro-adjustment knob is 1mm, and the increment for each turn of one grid in the scale ring is 0.02mm.
MDF Fence Faces
The fence faces are fixed by a dovetail slot allowing them slide to the left or right to set the required opening size. They can then can be tightened easily by locking knobs. The faces are made from an MDF board.
Scale and Flip Stop
The fence is supplied with 2 Flip Over Stops which slide in a groove on top of the fence rail. They can be locked anywhere along its length. The scale running along the top of the rail is laser etched into the aluminium.
The scale and flip stop together provide accuracy and repeatability for a wide variety of cutting tasks, such as machine stopped dados, mortices, fluting and other decorative profiles requiring precise stop points.
Aerodynamically Designed Dust Port
The 63.5mm (2.5") dust port on the back of the fence is aerodynamically designed, to improve dust collection efficiency.
Harvey Build Quality
As with all Harvey products, only premium materials are used throughout to ensure the highest build quality. The fence rail is made of aircraft-grade aluminium extrusion which is durable and provides great wear-resistance and superior hardness. All of the aluminium components are anodised for a smart looking, hard wearing finish.
All of the locking handles and adjusters are exquisitely crafted in metal.
All of the scales are laser etched directly into the aluminium giving permanently reliable accuracy.
An MDF board is used for the Fence Face, which is a perfect solution to providing tearout control and additional support for the work piece when using large diameter cutters.
