Create A New AccountThe iGaging Layout Square Set is a great addition to your workshop measuring and marking tools. Each square is laser cut from a single piece of solid aluminium on iGaging's state-of-the-art CNC equipment. The single-piece construction and manufacturing process ensures that the squares are accurate within two-thousandth of an inch along the tool's entire length. The precision-machined aluminium handle perfectly aligns with the blade. The thin 2mm blade has engraved millimetre markings on both sides and four edges with a blue anti-scratch anodised finish.
The large 325mm square features a 325mm outside and 300mm inside scale and boasts a 120mm scale along the handle's length plus a 45mm end scale. The 175mm square has a 175mm outside and 150mm inside scale plus a 70mm scale and a 31mm end scale on the handle. The handle's scales provide hands-free support on the workpiece and when measuring or drawing parallel or offset lines.
Many useful features make the squares a delight to use. The most noticeable feature is the small drilled holes along the blade's length. These holes are the perfect size to use with the included mechanical pencil for drawing parallel lines to an edge. The holes are marked and arranged in two rows, alternating in millimetre increments.
Other useful features include mitre angles from 5-degrees up to 60-degrees in 5-degree increments (plus 22.5 degrees) measured from the corner of the handle to the markings on the blade. A 45-degree cut-out in the handle also enables the quick layout of 45-degree angles. An additional bonus is a centre-finding rule on the top of the blade. The anodised aluminium handle has offsets of 10mm and 5mm, useful for the layout of tenons and dowels.
The sturdy aluminium handle design allows the square to stand upright on its own. The rare earth magnets in the base help secure the base to cast iron surfaces, such as a table saw top.
