Create A New AccountThe Joseph Marples mortice and marking gauge is made from the finest solid wood, and comes complete with brass inlay strips, brass knurled thumbscrew, and combined mortice and marking pins. These gauges feature the standard 6mm distance between the pins when fully closed.
A mortice gauge is one of the furniture maker's most fundamental tools for accurate mortice and tenon setting out. This wood and brass mortice gauge feature a threaded fine screw adjuster and brass knurled thumbscrew for locking the pins in place and holding the stock in the correct position.
The Marples family started making marking tools in the 1840's and are still making in Sheffield today.
