Woodpeckers 300mm Woodworking Rule

by Woodpeckers

The Woodpeckers 300mm Woodworking Rule a superior heavy-duty rule with accurate laser engraved markings on a 30 degree bevel; it also has a standard and a centre scale, plus it sits flat.

What makes Woodpeckers WoodWorking Rules our Best Sellers?

First it's much more accurate with precise laser engraved markings. Second it's straighter and heavier. Third it sits flat because of a recess down the centre of the bottom surface. Fourth, it has both a standard and a centre scale. Fifth, the markings are engraved on a 30 degree bevel for easy alignment to pencil marks. And finally, it looks nicer.

When you look at all the different rules being sold in retail stores, they're all pretty much intended for framing houses or general purpose use without any thought on how to make them better for those of us who build furniture and cabinets.

Tape measures are great if you're building a shed. They're not dependably accurate enough for finished furniture parts. Tape measures also don't make good straight edges to draw lines with. For that we usually look for the nearest scrap piece of lumber that we hope is straight.

Compare that to the application specific engineering that went into these new Woodworking Rules and you'll begin to appreciate the advantages. There is even a finger groove down the centre to help steer the rule in to place.

    Great product

Excellent product Center 0 is a really useful feature purchased for accuracy and quality

    It is good

It is a good ruller and hopefully my next one will be the 900mm and 1200mm one and I already bought a 600mm from Woodworkers Workshop as well they are good, and I will be buying from them again in the future...

Very good service will be using them again thanks

In this instance beauty is much more than skin deep

I bought the 600mm rule first and loved it, but felt the need of something smaller as most of my work is small-scale - so the 300mm Woodpecker was the obvious choice.
As an old-school chippy I had been rather sad, about 20 years ago when I finally had to admit that my beautiful boxwood and brass folding rule wasn't really fit for purpose any more. My new engineer-style steel rules were much more suitable for what I wanted to do, but soulless by comparison - just as my then-new engineer's square was undoubtedly more reliable than the beautiful rosewood-handled one I'd treasured for decades, but not so nice in the hand and useless as a decorative wall-hanging.
The Woodpecker approach reunites the twin ideals of beauty and utility (William Morris would have loved them on that score). The graduations are far, far easier to read for ageing eyes than the grey-on-lighter-grey scales seemingly beloved of the engineering trades; the accuracy seems second to none, to me; the 'Centre Scale' is an inspiration (lathough I'm aware that Incra thought of it first); and I'm now re-motivated to get on and sort out my workshop so that I can hang them on a wall - because they're wasted in the drawer!
To sum up, these tools have everything: first of all, and of highest importance, they do the job they're meant to, and supremely well; but to have a tool that feels great in the hand and is a joy to behold really does lift the experience of working in wood.
Health warning: serious risk of addiction!

It is such a pleasure to use and hold such beautifully made tools that are not only dead-on accurate but stable in use. The width of the rule, and all of the other Woodpeckers rules I own, make setting out a breeze and the accurate and clearly defined scales are very easy to read even in low light. None better.
