Create A New AccountThe Verum No. 62 Low Angle Jack Plane is a multi-purpose hand plane, considered the "jack of all trades", its narrow blade and lighter weight is ideal for preparing timber. If you grind a blade heavy cambered like a Scrub Plane it quickly levels timber, removing saw marks, cupping or twist. Or it's perfect for use on smaller timber in preparation for a Smoothing plane's final finish or undertaking the groundwork in readiness for precision flattening by a larger Fore or Jointer whether it be flattening, squaring, smoothing or shooting end grain. Suitable for beginners, students and seasoned woodworker.
Its 12 degree bedding angle plus 25 degree sharpened blade gives an ultra-low pitch of 37 degrees shaving end grain fibres with ease, with higher angled blades installed it tackles reversing grains removing tear out.
Additional 25 degree ground blades can be sharpened at 38 or 50 degrees to give 50 degree "York" or 62 degree "Cabinet" pitch for taming wild gnarly grain and final smoothing.
The plane mouth is fully adjustable. Untighten the front handle knob to release the toe and then adjust the mouth using the lever. Set the mouth width to suit the work required to be done. Close the mouth up tight to minimise tear out when working difficult figured grain, for any woodworker it’s a great allrounder.
