Woodpeckers Woodworking Square 660mm - Model 2616 combine the size of a carpenter's framing square with the precise construction of a furniture maker's try square. The reinforced beam lets the squares stand on their own and provides an accurate edge reference you'll never get with a framing square. They're the ideal tools to reach for when doing critical layout work on sheet goods and when setting up track saw cutting stations. What separates Woodpeckers squares from the rest is their one-piece central core. Woodpeckers mill the core from cast and ground tool plate aluminium (the most stable aluminium made). The central core gives Woodpeckers Precision Woodworking Squares an accuracy and stability not found in competitive tools.
The core of the 2616 is precisely machined complete squares. Woodpeckers milling methods combined with the top quality material they use allow them to hold tolerance to ±.0085°. That amounts to about 0.025mm per 300mm (0.001" per foot) of blade length. To this highly accurate core they add cheeks to make the base thicker. The combination of the one-piece core with the precision-pinned cheeks can't be matched by squares made with a blade riveted to a separate beam.
The cheeks are narrower than the core by a 6.35mm (1/4"), forming a shoulder not found in traditional square designs. The shoulder allows the square to rest on the edge of a board without you holding on. Once you've used a Woodpeckers square with the shoulder, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.
The hands-free design, the wide stable base for vertical use and the heft and balance of these squares combine to make them a joy to use, as well as deadly accurate. But Woodpeckers didn't stop with just a great square, they laser engrave scales on both sides of the blade to an accuracy of ±0.10mm (0.004") total accumulated error over the entire length of the scale.
When the job is done, your squares store in a wall-mountable Rack-It that keeps them safe, but always in plain sight and ready for the next project.
