Diamond sharpening has been around for a number of years, from early versions with diamonds electroplated onto a steel sub base to the stones we have today. Diamond particles generally cut faster than other similar abrasive and stay sharp for longer compared to other sharpening methods. Scary Sharpening System14

The concept of Scary Sharpening has been around for years, but with the evolution of new abrasives Scary Sharpening has become a very effective and affordable way to sharpen a variety of your woodworking tools. This system of sharpening uses self adhesive micro finishing sheets on a flat substrate such as our Polycarbonate Plates.

Scary Sharpening Abrasive Sheets range from 80 micron for initial grinding to 3 micron for polishing chisel backs, plane irons and knives;. When sharpening lubricate the abrasive sheets with an oil such as Shield Technology HoneRite No.1 for fast cutting. Using an oil will prevent swarf from clogging the papers. Swarf can also be removed easily with a paper covered magnet. For the best results use with one of our AUKTools or Veritas Honing Guides to achieve an excellent edge on chisels and plane blades.

Strop Blocks in woodworking are generally used with honing compound or honing paste, extremely fine abrasives that gives a mirror polish to an edge. Applied to the surface of the strop a little compound goes a long way. Our range of quality Leather Strop Blocks from Titman Edge are excellent for finishing razor edges on knives or razors. Waterstones have a great reputation for quick sharpening. Waterstones generally use a more loosely bonded material that is washed out rapidly as it becomes blunt to give way to newer, sharp abrasive grit. Our range from King Ice Bear come in a variety of grits to suit nearly all sharpening needs.
